DC Tobacco Free Families Campaign
DC Residents: Call 800-QUIT-NOW (800-784-8669) for FREE patches, lozenges, and counseling!!!
DC Tobacco Free Families Campaign is a partnership of the DC Cancer Consortium, the American Lung Association of DC, and the DC Department of Health. In December 2006, the DC Council allocated a generous portion of the tobacco settlement funds to implement a comprehensive tobacco cessation and prevention program for DC residents in its commitment to reduce the death and disease caused by tobacco use. Since then, smoking prevalence has decreased by 20 percent in the District. DCTFF implements a guerrilla marketing and community outreach to extend its free services to DC smokers looking for help to quit. DC residents are encouraged to call the free DC Quitline, 800-QUIT-NOW. DC callers will receive free patches, lozenges, and counseling. Spanish-speaking callers should call 202-333-4488.
Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death killing over 700 DC residents each year and can cause a significant decline in the quality of life the longer you smoke. Smoking also affects the entire family when a family member smokes around them, which also causes serious health consequences for nonsmoking family members, especially young children. This campaign is committed making sure all DC residents who smoke have access to smoking cessation treatments so they can stay quit for good. The DCTFF campaign also promotes smoke-free homes and cars to protect our children. For more information on DCTFF, visit the website.
